What a weekend it was for our Under 12 and 13 girls entering their first ever tournament.
The Girls travelled to blackburn to take part in the well run Blackburn Eagles Tournament which went well for both squads.
The Under 12s took part in the morning session of the comp, to which they comfortably won Group 1 with 3 out of 3 wins, scoring plenty and letting in none. The girls came up against a strong haslingden team in the semi final, to which with good strong characters all over the pitch, good team work and some very well created goals, the girls were successful winning 4v0 and ready to go onto the final. In the Final the girls were up against a team full of current RTC players to which they held their own for most of the game. The girls were really unlucky and unfourtunate to be on the back end of a well worked free kick that saw them lose just 1v0.
All the girls were able to keep their heads held high as they start off their trophy collection with a Runners up cup and medals. This is a massive achievement for all the girls and shows their hard work is paying off as people on the sidelines all said how well they didm and what an amazing team they are.
The morning over saw the Under 13s comp start with only one group to compete in, it looked a tough one. However this was something the girls strived on and my goodness did they show everyone at that tournament how to play. they won the group comfortably with a massive goal tally. The semi finals arise and they are up against runcorn, not only did they win comfortably 8v0 but they looked like an amazing passing team, all players looking confident and ready to fight in the final. In the Final the girls were up against the physical and strong Preston North End, the girls and Amanda knew they would have a fight on their hands after beating them just 1v0 in the group stages. Preston came out fast and strong breaking through on goal a few times, however our very reliable backline were able to deal with what was being thrown at them, then break through, RTB got the goal they deserved, scored by Leah and what a wonderful strike it was the start of the girls going from strength to strength with the score finishing 4v0 to RTB with the other goals coming from Libby, Rebecca and Layla.
All the girls were proud to collect a winners medal and a winners trophy to add to the mornings success.
Amanda and Danni along with all the coaching staff are extremely proud of the girls achievements and knows that people will be talking about these girls for all the right reasons.
We are all looking forward to the next few tournaments we have entered in the summer.
