It’s been a very busy weekend for all at RTB,
This weekend the new season started with a brand new RTB 9v9 team taking their place in the Bolton and bury girls league, Our Under 13s competing in there first ever 11v11 league game in East Manchester Div 6 against the boys and Our under 14s competing in Div 4 after their promotion last year.
Let’s get started with our new 9v9 team Captained by Scarlett Thompson. what an amazing start it was. We were playing a good solid winton team to which some former players were up against us.
The girls used what they had worked on in training, pressing, pass and move and team work to come out victorious winners 8v0.
scorers, Mille K (3) Freya B (1) Lexie (2) Freya W (1) Ava P (1).
Danni and Justin were very proud of the girls performance and hope we can transfer this onto the pitch next week.
Our under 14s had a very tough game against Boundry Park, what looks like to manager Amanda Barr one of the strongest teams they may come up against.
The girls with some good build up play, lovely triangular movement on and off the ball and fantastic team work lost the game 8v2 Goals scorers Holly B (1) Rebecca (1) Amanda said after the game, “I am so proud of all the girls and the score really does not reflect how good the girls play was, unfourtunatly for us the boys were just a lot more physical and used their massive front runner to their advantage really well. This is a massive learning curve for our girls and I know we have some bits to work on but I am pleased and can see the development in the girls“ After the game I got a lovely message from the opposing manager that suggested the girls were one of the best footballing sides they had come up against, so we will use that in our next game to try and be victorious.“
The Under 13s in
the afternoon we’re up against Oldham community. This was a massive change to what they were used to, playing on a huge pitch and playing boys twice the size of them. The girls did not disappoint. the girls went up 2v0 with both goals from Millie K. A few individual errors then allowed the boys back into the game it was 2v2 with 15 mins remaining,
The girls continued to battle with some amazing saves from keeper Izzy K then Millie was through on goal and got chopped in the box, penalty given, Layla calmly slotted it home.
5 mins remaining and a back pass was played to Izzy, the grass holding it up saw Izzy make a tackle taking ball and player causing a head injury to Izzy and a penalty rewarded, even though it seemed Izzy was injured outside the box. Layla bravely stepped up in net as he say couldnt continue. penalty scored by Oldham.
Final score 3v3
All the girls that put on the RTB shirt this weekend should be proud of what they are achieving as all the coaches involved are. We are excited to see the progression through the season and as always we will continue to work hard each week in training ensuring our weaknesses become strengths.
Well done Everyone on to next week
