The girls have begun there tournament campaign with an amazing effort in the ESF butlins festival. This is one of the biggest festivals around and what a brilliant one it was too .
Over 7 thousand people attending this event just goes to show the popularity of the ESF festival with teams travelling from Essex, Lincolnshire, Ireland, Sheffield, Newcastle and many more.
We entered a under 13 squad, which took a early blow before travelling with our superstar keeper Izzy knights unfourtunatly breaking her hand, but that was no panic for our amazing Ella Reed who volunteered to step in. These girls thoughout the tournament were amazing finishing 3rd overall and winning the FairPlay Trophy .
We also entered a Under 14 squad, after The second day our girls were sitting top of the group, moving forward to the semi finals. We came across a tough Ladybridge team (who had come 2nd in other league) the girls won comfortable 4v0 playing some amazing football. The girls are now in the final, facing a team we meet in our group Norton and Stockton. This was a brilliant game, end to end which saw chances for both teams but unfortunately finished 0v0 and now it was time for penalties. Lily was comfortable and looked confident, but all penalty takers stepped up slotted away there penalties on both teams , Lily getting fingers to nearly all penalties. Unfourtunatly for us we missed a sudden death penalty which ment we missed our penalty meaning we lost the game.
However everyone was so proud of the girls coming 2nd in the whole tornament with comments from opposing teams “amazing team“ “best footballing side“ “lovely set of girls“ “these girls are going places”
Everyone at RTB are super proud of every single player who attended not only showing there talent on the pitch but showing how much of a family unit RTB have become. The girls had a amazing end of presentation being presented with trophy’s from legend John Barnes and Faye White
